Ultra-Mel could dance before she could walk. Propped up between mattresses she would wiggle to the Police's De do do do, De da da da. She was destined for a life with an endless soundtrack and happened to fortuitously fall into DJing.

Ultra-Mel started DJing professionally in 2009 and she has been serving up dessert to dance floors ever since. With her ability to mix genres and eras she was soon a known name on the wedding circuit and has appeared at countless corporate functions ( clients include FNB, Steinhoff, Discovery, Vodacom, Steinhoff, Standard Bank, Investec, Ernst&Young Nedbank, Sage, etc.) and many private functions. She has shared the stage with the likes of Mango Groove, DJ Fresh, Dino Bravo, PH, Parlotones, Wonderboom, Rubber Duc, Majozi and Watershed. With over 300 corporate gigs and over 500 private functions under her belt, she has the experience required to entertain a diverse crowd. She has also been spotted behind the decks at venues across JHB, from Katy’s Palace Bar and Sir James to the Living Room and Kitchener’s. She is the preferred DJ supplier to 8 different venues across Johannesburg and has been flown to Cape Town and Durban for various private and corporate functions.

Ultra-Mel's style ranges from swing - indie - rock - pop - classics – soul – house – dance – hip hop to everything in between. It is her ability to read a crowd - to instinctively steer a set according to what works at that particular moment for that particular group of people - that sets her apart. Air punches and broken shoes are commonplace at Ultra-Mel's gigs, both from the folks on the dance floor and from Ultra-Mel herself.
